Applied HALLography with no strings attached

In this talk, we discuss the general status of the once popular approach known as 'applied condensed matter holography'. We then consider a number of case studies, each of which might be naively characterized as genuinely holographic in the original sense - but, under a closer examination, does not appear to be. Ultimately, this discussion aims at ascertaining as to what holography 'might have (possibly) gotten right...albeit for the wrong reason'. (based on arXiv:2310.02991)
