Characterization of nanowire based heterostructures using electron microscopy methods

In this work the process of characterization and optimization that goes into development of semiconductor nanowire heterostructures for quantum transport experiments is presented. In particular, the thesis focuses on developing nanowire cross-sectioning for in-depth electron microscopy characterization using microtomy. Optimization of new double nanowire (DNW) heterostructures for uses in novel quantum transport experiments. Crystal phase engineering of III-V nanowires for as-grown axial quantum dot designing. Characterization of InAs/Pb hybrids for uses in experiments requiring a pronounced superconducting gap.
