QDev Seminar: Adam Micolich

What can you create with an extra gate: dots, QPCs and nanowires

I will give brief snapshots of four pieces of work we've been doing in Sydney with a common theme -- adding a gate for better control over carrier density. I will start with work that was done in collaboration with NBI on undoped quantum dots, move to our recent work on quantum dot Kondo physics for holes and the density dependence of the 0.7 anomaly, and finish with some work done in collaboration with Lund University on making lateral wrap-gated nanowire devices.
