QDev Summer School 2014

Last week, QDev hosted the first week-long summer school at the HCØ campus in Copenhagen on Quantum Effects in Low-dimensional Systems.

The summer school included a series of lectures, alternated with exercise sessions on each topic. Keynote speakers were Brian M. Andersen from Univ. of Copenhagen, Amir Yacoby from Harvard Univ., Charles Kane from the University of Pennsylvania, Adiel Stern from the Weizmann Institute, Silvano de Franceschi from CEA and Guido Burkard from the University of Konstanz. The week included an excursion to Kronborg Slot in Helsingør, the castle which is said to have been the inspiration to Shakespeare's Hamlet.

We thank all participants, both from abroad and from our institute, for their attendance and for making our first Summer School a success.
